In Sweden, Ikea opened a new web page in late August that includes all advertisements for Ikea products that are in good shape published on the Blocket C2C (consumer to consumer) platform. At the same time, any new ads published on the new website will also be published on Blocket.
Company CEO Peter Agnefäll told Time.com : "It is about taking an environmental responsibility for how our products are used in the longer term and making it easier for our customers to do their part for their responsibility towards the environment".
Ikea is undoubtedly looking to enter the second-hand market. Last year, the company had also reinforced its position with a product resale website, iLoveIkea.se, which has since changed names.
