In 2009 electronic commerce in Argentina was worth 5.24 billion Pesos (1.087 billion Euros), of which 4.8 billion related to business-to-consumer transactions, while the remaining volume was for consumer-to-consumer business.
This year growth is expected to reach around 40%, according to sources at the BuscaPe portal in Argentina.
Furthermore, at least two million users make an e-commerce purchase at least once a month (even if just in the supermarket) with plenty of potential for growth considering that 40% of Argentina's population are internet users (nearly 16 million people).
