Over 1000 professionals to be trained for online commerce with Europe

The European Union, in close collaboration with Mercosur, has given the green light to the Mercosur Digital project. The goal is to prepare the countries that make up the bloc -Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay- in the use of IT tools to consolidate, through the Internet, Mercosur - European Union commercial integration and connection.

The vision is that over time the demand for the use of IT tools will be stronger, so e-commerce training will be provided with a view to possibly signing trade agreements with Europe.

"We are seeking to help small and medium-sized enterprises from Mercosur excel in electronic commerce, reinforcing the infrastructures that enable them to do so", says European Union advisor Manuel Fernández Quiles.

Training professionals

The project also includes training through a Virtual School for over 1,000 specialist -250 from each country in the bloc- to undertake the coordination of future trade agreements with Europe over the Internet.  "In setting up meetings, we intend to train new leaders in the potential of the ICTs", Fernández says.
