Wine importers in Sweden have noticed a growing interest by consumers in buying products on the Internet that are not in stock at the shops of the alcohol distribution monopoly (Systembolaget).
Electronic commerce for wine in Sweden inspires consumers with new discoveries

Electronic commerce wine sales have expanded, and consumers order small amounts of different wines that they cannot find in stores. More and more clients are discovering this service and frequently order wines costing over 100SEK (approximately €9.50) a bottle.

"The volume of sales increases each week, but it is still small and it is too soon to come to any conclusions regarding its influence on distribution", says Charlotte Bengtsson from the importer Ward Wines.

Importers such as Bibendum and Wine Trade are optimistic about this new sales channel, and they are seeing positive results, especially for the sale of little known wines that are not available in stores. This makes them more accessible to customers.

According to Systembolaget, weekly Internet orders reach approximately 1,100.
