The goal is to build trust among Internet users, providing them with tricks and advice for buying online
EC eCommerce guide now available

The European Commission (EC) has published the guide, which can be accessed on the Internet, informing consumers about their rights and obligations when they buy online and encouraging them to engage in eCommerce, also via web pages based abroad.

The EC has decided to create this virtual manual in order to increase trust among Internet-users. This tool provides users with online purchasing advice and tricks, as well as advice on how to communicate with their broadband provider, download music, deal with unwanted email (spam) or protect their privacy on social networks, as well as many other issues.

For example, the guide makes it clear that the consumer has the right to accurate information about the price and conditions before making any payment for purchases on a website, has a seven-day period within which to back out of the purchase, and a guarantee of at least two years on the products bought.
