According to eBusiness Watch, the European observatory on e-business issues, the transport equipment industries contributed 731bn Euro to total manufacturing production in Europe, and 78% of this production value can be attributed to the automotive industry.
Within the automotive industry, the manufacture of motor vehicles is by far the biggest industry sub-sector.
99% of sector employees in the EU-5 (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK) work in companies that have Internet access and use e-mail, 94% in companies that also use the WWW, and 81% in companies that use an intranet.
